Front Desk and Guest Check In

Front desk is the operational and emotional anchor of hotel service: where guests form their first impression, where payment and identity are verified, and where rooms are assigned and access granted. Mastery of the PMS, guest preferences, rapid check-in protocols, and genuine warmth opens every door to hospitality leadership. Front desk is the entry point to the hotel: you greet guests, verify reservations in the property management system, collect identification and payment authorization, assign rooms based on preference and inventory, encode and distribute keys, establish the guest folio (bill), and answer questions about amenities, dining, and local attractions. A check-in should take 3 to 5 minutes and leave the guest feeling welcomed rather than processed. You also process express checkouts, handle early arrivals and late cancellations, manage room changes, and document all interactions and preferences so the rest of the hotel can deliver personalized service.
