Introverted Intuition (Ni)

A Jungian cognitive function that processes internal patterns, insights, and hidden meanings. Ni users see the big picture and underlying truths beneath surface information.

Introverted Intuition (Ni) is one of Jung's eight cognitive functions. It focuses internally on patterns, connections, and symbolic meanings. Ni-users are drawn to understanding concepts, seeing systems, and grasping underlying principles.

Characteristics: fascinated by hidden meanings, sees patterns others miss, generates insights spontaneously, sometimes "just knows" without conscious reasoning. They tend to loop in their own thoughts and can struggle to express their vision to others.

In Myers-Briggs, Ni is the primary function for INTJ and INFJ types (the "seeing the future" stereotypes). Ni is often associated with innovation and strategic planning. The downside: Ni users can get stuck in analysis-paralysis or lose touch with present reality. With Extraverted Feeling (Fe), Ni creates the INFJ "counselor" archetype. With Extraverted Thinking (Te), Ni creates the INTJ "strategist" archetype.
