Extraverted Sensing (Se)
A Jungian cognitive function that experiences present-moment sensations, actions, and external stimuli. Se users are adaptable, action-oriented, and live in the here-and-now.
Extraverted Sensing (Se) focuses externally on immediate sensations, physical experiences, and present reality. Se-users are the "realists of the moment" — they notice what's happening now and respond with action.
Characteristics: high sensory awareness, physically active and athletic, adaptable to changing conditions, lives in the present moment, seeks exciting experiences. They can get distracted by stimulation, struggle with long-term planning, or become impulsive.
In Myers-Briggs, Se is the primary function for ESTP and ESFP types. Se with Introverted Thinking (Ti) creates the "entrepreneur" — tactical, adaptable, quick to respond (think fighter pilots, traders). Se with Introverted Feeling (Fi) creates the "entertainer" — fun-loving, spontaneous, people-focused. Se-users excel in roles requiring quick reactions, physical skill, and real-time adaptation (sports, performance, emergency response, sales).
