Percentile Score

Your ranking compared to a reference population. A 72nd percentile Extraversion score means you're more extraverted than 72% of people. Used in Big Five and other continuous-scale tests.

Percentile scores tell you where you stand relative to others. They range from 1st (very low) to 99th (very high), with 50th being exactly average.

Interpretation: 1st-15th = very low (distinctive), 16th-30th = low, 31st-70th = average range, 71st-85th = high, 86th-99th = very high (distinctive). The average range (31st-70th) is where most people fall — scores here aren't strongly predictive of behavior.

Percentile scores are more informative than raw scores because they account for the distribution shape. JobCannon uses percentile scores on the Big Five because they're more intuitive: "You're more conscientious than 85% of people" is more useful than "You scored 67 on Conscientiousness."
