Why use TiDB instead of PostgreSQL + data warehouse?

How does TiDB handle OLAP queries on transactional data?

TiDB separates row storage (OLTP) and columnar storage (OLAP via TiFlash). OLAP queries use columnar replica automatically if available. No manual tuning needed.

Can TiDB replace my data warehouse?

For many workloads, yes. TiDB can handle petabyte-scale analytics on hot data. But for offline batch processing or ML pipelines, specialized tools are still better.
