How the calculation works
Numerology reduces your birth date to a single digit by adding the digits of the year, then the month, then the day, then summing the three.
Example: a birth date of June 15, 1987 reduces as follows. Year 1987 becomes 1 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7. Month 6 stays 6. Day 15 becomes 1 + 5 = 6. Sum is 7 + 6 + 6 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. Life path 1.
Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are not reduced. If at any point your reduction hits one of these, the calculation stops there and the master number becomes your life path.
Important caveat: numerology is a symbolic system, not an empirical science. The life path number is useful as a frame for reflection on patterns you actually have, not as a prediction of what your life must be.
