What's the difference between PROFIBUS and PROFINET?
PROFIBUS (1989) is serial fieldbus (up to 12 Mbps). PROFINET (2002) is Ethernet-based and faster. PROFINET is newer and gradually replacing PROFIBUS in new systems.
Do I need to know electrical engineering to work with PROFIBUS?
Helpful but not required. You need to understand digital signals, voltage levels, and basic network concepts. Most of the skill is configuration and troubleshooting, not circuit design.
How long is the PROFIBUS cable?
