What is the islands architecture?

Instead of shipping a single large JS bundle for the whole app, Fresh renders most of the page as static HTML on the server. Only the interactive parts (buttons, forms, dynamic sections) are islands of Preact code sent to the browser. Result: 80-90% less JS. A blog post with a comment form: the post is HTML, the form is an island. Load time: 0.5s instead of 3s.

Why Deno instead of Node.js?

Deno has no package.json, no node_modules, TypeScript out-of-the-box, and simpler permission model. Fresh leverages this for faster dev experience and smaller deployments. Node.js + Next.js is more mature; Deno + Fresh is modern but less battle-tested. Pick Deno for greenfield projects, greenfield teams. Stick with Node for legacy or massive ecosystems.

Can I use npm packages with Deno Fresh?
