Career Aspirations

Your ideal future career state — what you want to achieve, become, or accomplish. Aspirations differ from interests: you might be interested in programming but aspire to leadership.

Career aspirations answer the question: "What do I want my career to become?" This is distinct from current interests or skills.

Some people aspire to mastery (become the best in their field), others to leadership (manage teams), others to impact (change the world), others to autonomy (be their own boss). Your aspiration determines which career path will feel fulfilling in 5-10 years.

The danger: conflating interests with aspirations. You might score high Investigative (interest in research) but aspire to Entrepreneurial (building companies). Choosing careers based on interests alone can lead to success that feels empty. Understanding your aspirations helps choose which skills to develop.
