Job Satisfaction
The extent to which you're satisfied with your work — a function of person-job fit, values alignment, relationships, and growth opportunities.
Job satisfaction is multifaceted, not just "do you like your job?" Research identifies five key drivers:
1. Work itself (interesting tasks, autonomy, growth) 2. Pay and benefits (financial security) 3. Relationships (supportive manager, good colleagues) 4. Advancement (career growth opportunity) 5. Work environment (physical space, culture, flexibility)
Personality predicts satisfaction: high Agreeableness + supportive team = high satisfaction; high Openness + stimulating work = high satisfaction; high Extraversion + isolating work = low satisfaction.
The Big Five predictor: low Neuroticism is the strongest personality predictor of job satisfaction (r=0.30+). But values-job fit is more predictive than any single trait — a Realistic person working in Conventional environment will be satisfied despite personal challenges.
