The major lines of the palm
How to read your palm
Palm reading — or cheiromancy — starts with the three big lines that cross almost every hand: the heart line at the top, the head line through the middle, and the life line curving around the base of the thumb. Look at each one’s length, depth and shape — a deep line is read as a strong theme, a faint one as a quieter note.
From there, look for the “bonus” lines that not everyone has: the fate line rising toward the middle finger, the sun line toward the ring finger, and the marriage lines on the edge below the pinky. Read your dominant hand first — and treat the whole thing as a prompt for reflection, never a prophecy.

Frequently asked questions
How do I read my own palm?▾
Start with the three big lines — heart (top), head (middle) and life (curving around the thumb) — then look at their length, depth and shape. Read your dominant hand for the “active” story. It is a fun lens for self-reflection, not a prediction.
Which hand should I read?▾
Tradition reads the dominant hand as who you are becoming and the non-dominant hand as your starting nature. For a quick reading, look at your dominant hand first, then compare the two.
Can my palm predict my future?▾
No. Palmistry is entertainment and self-reflection, not a forecast. In particular, the life line does NOT predict lifespan — that is a myth. Read your palm for fun and insight, never for medical, financial or life decisions.
What are the most important lines in palm reading?▾
The three major lines are the heart line, head line and life line. Many palms also show a fate line, a sun (Apollo) line and marriage lines, each read for a different theme.
