Why is Solana different from Ethereum?
Solana uses Proof of History (PoH) consensus, allowing higher throughput (65k+ TPS vs. Ethereum's ~15 TPS). Programs are stateless; account data is separate. Solana is written in Rust, not Solidity.
What's an Account in Solana?
Solana's fundamental data structure. Each account stores data and SOL balance. Programs can create and modify accounts. Unlike Ethereum's contract state, Solana accounts are mutable and external to programs.
What's Anchor and why should I use it?
Anchor is a framework that simplifies Solana development by handling boilerplate, serialization, and security checks. Most Solana programs use Anchor; it's the standard.
How do I test Solana programs?
Anchor includes a testing framework using Mocha/Typescript. You can test locally with Anchor's test validator (Bankrun) or on Devnet.
What's the cost of deploying a Solana program?
Minimal. Deployment costs a few SOL (~$1-5) and is one-time. Running transactions costs microfractions of SOL. Much cheaper than Ethereum.
