Policy analysis is the systematic evaluation of government policies and public programs. Analysts use research methods, data, and evidence to assess whether policies achieve their goals, at what cost, and with what unintended consequences. The goal is to inform policymakers with evidence-based recommendations. Methods include: impact evaluation (randomized trials, quasi-experimental designs), econometric analysis, qualitative research (interviews, case studies), cost-benefit analysis, and systems thinking. Modern policy analysis is increasingly quantitative and evidence-driven.
