Profibus Industrial

PROFIBUS (PROcess FIeld BUS) is an industrial digital fieldbus protocol used for real-time communication between a master controller (PLC) and slave devices (sensors, actuators, drives) in manufacturing and process automation. Operating at speeds up to 12 Mbps on serial lines, PROFIBUS enables efficient, deterministic communication for time-critical industrial applications. PROFIBUS comes in three variants: DP (decentralized peripherals, most common), PA (process automation), and FMS (fieldbus message specification, rarely used today). Most modern industrial systems are shifting to PROFINET (Ethernet-based), but PROFIBUS remains widely deployed in legacy and mid-range automation systems.
