Supply chain security is the protection of goods and data throughout the supply chain—from manufacturing to transport to retail—against counterfeiting, tampering, theft, cyber attacks, and regulatory violations. It combines physical security (locks, cameras, RFID), cyber security (access controls, encryption), and governance (supplier audits, compliance). Unlike general cybersecurity (which protects networks), supply chain security is physical + digital: tracking goods in transit, verifying product authenticity, protecting logistics systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
