- Coaching certification through national sports associations or POC-recognised bodies

Frequently asked questions about SHS Sports
What college courses follow the SHS Sports track?
Bachelor of Physical Education, BS Sports Science, BS Physical Therapy, BS Exercise and Sports Science, BS Nutrition and Dietetics, and BS Human Movement Science are the most common destinations. All of these require basic biology and anatomy, which the Sports track covers.
Is the Sports track only for student-athletes?
No. The track is open to anyone interested in sports science, coaching, fitness, sports management, or rehabilitation — not just competitive athletes. Many graduates go on to physical therapy, sports nutrition, or recreation management.
Can a Sports-track graduate become a professional athlete?
The SHS track can support that path but does not guarantee it. Professional athletic careers in the Philippines (PBA, PVL, national teams) are highly competitive and depend on talent identification, training history, and tournament results, not the SHS strand alone.
What jobs are available immediately after SHS Sports without college?
Entry-level fitness assistant, sports retail associate, recreation aide at LGUs or resorts, and assistant coach roles at community sports clubs. A short certification from a recognised fitness or coaching body broadens entry-level options.
How does the Sports track compare with the STEM strand for becoming a doctor or physiotherapist?
STEM remains the more conventional path to medical school. For Physical Therapy specifically, both Sports and STEM graduates are accepted into BS Physical Therapy programs; STEM provides stronger chemistry and physics preparation, while Sports provides stronger anatomy, biomechanics, and applied movement science.
