🔬 Research & Sources
Attention to detail gets asked about in interviews but rarely measured. The 30 scenario questions are grouped into four areas that separate careless work from careful work in practice — catching text and data errors, cross-checking figures against a source, spotting visual and pattern inconsistencies, and following multi-step instructions exactly as written — and the tier boundaries are fixed score ranges, so Sharp-Eyed means the same 22-26 range every time the test is taken. Each question describes a real scenario and asks what you would notice, rather than testing recall of a rule.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this test actually measure?
Whether you notice a discrepancy that is designed to look correct at a glance — a transposed digit in a reference number, a date restated in a different format, a step done out of order, a pattern that breaks one item later than expected. It does not test knowledge or vocabulary; every question can be answered correctly by reading what is on the page rather than what you expect to see there.
Is this a personality test or a skills test?
A skills test. Each question has one objectively correct answer, scored right or wrong, the same way a proofreading or data-entry test is scored. There is no self-report scale and no typology involved.
How long does it take?
About six minutes. There is no timer on individual questions — the test measures whether you catch the mismatch, not how fast you can click through it. Take as long as you need on any question.
Do I have to sign up?
No. You can take the test and see your score and category breakdown without an account. Creating one is only useful if you want the result kept so you can compare a later attempt against it.
Will I see which questions I got wrong?
You get a score for each of the four areas, so you can see where the misses are concentrated, plus a recommendation aimed at the tier you landed in. The test does not publish a per-question answer sheet, because that would make the score meaningless for the next person using it to prepare.
Can I use this to screen candidates?
Yes — this is built as a pre-hire screener first. It is an objective right-or-wrong test with no health, disposition or personality angle, so it does not carry the fairness problems a typology test does. If you want to send it to applicants and collect results in one place, that runs through the hiring side of JobCannon rather than through this page.
What roles is this most relevant for?
Data entry, bookkeeping and reconciliation, quality control and inspection, compliance and audit checking, proofreading and editing, and any administrative role where a small mismatch — a wrong order number, a misfiled record, a step skipped in a procedure — turns into a real cost once it goes unnoticed.
