Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Financial Accounting test cover?
Six areas: debits and credits, the income statement, the balance sheet, accrual accounting versus cash timing, depreciation, and working capital. Every question is a short bookkeeping scenario followed by a question about the correct entry or classification, rather than a definitions-recall question.
How is my level determined?
Every question is scored against a single correct answer, and the total places you in one of four tiers: beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert. You also get a per-area breakdown, so a strong overall score still shows you which of the six areas is weaker.
How long does it take?
About 6 minutes. There are 28 questions and no per-question timer, so you can think through each scenario properly. Your result appears the moment you finish.
Do I need to know a specific accounting package?
No. Every question is about the underlying accounting mechanics — which account gets debited, which period an expense belongs to, how depreciation is calculated — not about menu positions in QuickBooks, Xero or any other package.
Can employers use this for hiring?
Yes. Bookkeeping accuracy is a defensible, objective thing to screen on for accounts-assistant and junior-bookkeeper roles, and this is a right-or-wrong test rather than a personality measure. Employers can send this test to candidates from the JobCannon for business page.
