Frequently Asked Questions
Is this psychometric test free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes. All 30 questions are free, and you see your overall band along with the four area scores — numerical data, verbal inference, pattern recognition and error-checking — without creating an account or giving an email. There is no paywall on the result itself; a free account only lets you save it for later.
How is my score calculated?
Every question has exactly one correct answer, so your raw score is simply the number you answer correctly. Those are tracked separately across four areas — numerical data, verbal inference, pattern recognition and error-checking — and the four sub-scores combine into an overall band running from developing to exceptional, alongside a plain-language description of what that band means.
Is this the same test my employer will give me?
No. Employer-administered psychometric batteries are usually proctored, strictly timed, and drawn from a proprietary item bank licensed from a testing vendor. This is a free practice instrument built around the same four question formats those batteries commonly use — not a copy of any vendor's actual test — and no employer will accept this score as a substitute for their own.
Can I retake the test?
Yes, though the 30 questions are the same set each time rather than a fresh pool, so retaking it the same day mostly tests memory of the earlier attempt rather than fresh ability. It is more useful to retake after some time and deliberate practice on whichever of the four areas your first result flagged as weakest.
What do the four sub-scores mean?
Numerical data is reading and calculating from small tables — totals, averages, percentages. Verbal inference is judging a statement as True, False or Cannot Say strictly from a short passage, resisting the urge to use outside knowledge. Pattern recognition is spotting the rule in a number, letter or coded sequence. Error-checking is catching the one character, price or reference number that does not match. Together they cover the ability side of a typical employer screen.
How long does the test take?
About eight minutes for all 30 questions, with no timer forcing you through it. Real employer batteries are usually timed far more tightly than that, so treat the untimed version here as a chance to learn the four question formats properly before you meet them again under pressure.
What can't this test tell me?
It only measures the ability side of a psychometric battery. The other half most employers use — a personality or work-style questionnaire — has no right or wrong answers and is not included here at all. This is also a free screener rather than a proctored, accredited assessment, so it cannot certify anything to an employer or stand in for their own testing.
