Frequently Asked Questions
Is this situational judgement test free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes. You can take all 25 scenarios and see your overall judgement band without creating an account. Seeing your five competency scores broken out, and reading the explanation behind each scenario, are part of the same free result page — no payment is required to see what your judgement pattern is.
How is the situational judgement test scored?
Each of the 25 scenarios offers four responses, and one is keyed as most effective by consensus professional practice, not a mathematically provable answer the way a maths question has. Your choices are tallied both as an overall total, which sets your band from developing to exceptional, and as five separate competency scores covering escalation, prioritisation, integrity and ownership, empathy in communication, and boundary-setting.
Is this the same situational judgement test my employer will give me?
No. Employers running a situational judgement test as part of graduate-scheme or healthcare selection — including formats like the UCAT SJT — use their own proctored version, timed and scored against an answer key built for that specific programme. This is a free self-assessment screener built in the same style of realistic workplace scenario, useful for practice and reflection, not a substitute for the exact test any particular employer will administer.
Can I retake this test?
Yes, nothing stops you taking it again. Judgement is closer to a skill than a fixed trait, so it shifts with experience — a retake after a few months in a new role, or after deliberately working on one weak competency, tells you more than retaking it the same afternoon, when you are likely to remember which options you picked rather than reconsider them.
What do the five competency scores mean?
Escalation judgement is when and how you bring someone else in, rather than handling something alone or letting it sit. Prioritisation is how you choose among competing demands under time pressure. Integrity and ownership covers what you do with mistakes, small dishonesty, and uncomfortable truths. Empathy in communication is how you deliver hard messages and respond to other people's pressure. Boundary-setting is how you protect your time and role without becoming unhelpful.
How long does the situational judgement test take?
About 7 minutes for all 25 scenarios. There is no timer forcing you through any single question, so you can read each situation properly before choosing, but the scenarios are short and the response options are direct, so most people move through the whole test in well under ten minutes.
What can't this situational judgement test tell me?
It cannot confirm you would act the way you chose under real pressure, in front of a difficult manager or an angry customer — a screen is not the same as the moment. It carries no technical, legal or role-specific knowledge, does not follow any one country's employment law, and is not a personality inventory: it scores which response you pick, not who you are. Treat a result as a prompt for reflection and practice, not a certified score to submit to an employer.
