Quick DISC Team Workshop

45-60 min | Tests: DISC Profile (3 min per person)

Agenda

0-5 minIntroduction — why we're doing this, ground rules (no judgment, all styles valid)

5-10 minEveryone takes DISC test on their phone/laptop (3 min)

10-20 minQuick round: each person shares their top DISC style and says "That's accurate because..."

20-35 minMap the team: plot everyone on a DISC grid (whiteboard/screen). Discuss: where are we heavy? What are we missing?

35-45 minCommunication agreements: "When working with a D style, be direct and skip small talk. When working with an S style, give advance notice of changes."

45-60 minCreate "How to Work With Me" cards — each person writes their style, preferences, and pet peeves

Deep Team Personality Workshop

2-3 hours | Tests: DISC (3 min), Big Five (10 min), Conflict Styles (3 min)

Agenda

0-10 minIntroduction + ground rules. Explain: we're exploring differences, not ranking people.

10-25 minEveryone takes all 3 tests (16 min total). Can be done before the workshop as homework.

25-45 minDISC results sharing — round-robin, map the team grid

45-75 minBig Five deep dive — discuss: How does our Openness range affect brainstorming? Does our Conscientiousness spread explain deadline issues?

75-90 minBreak

90-120 minConflict Styles — share results, discuss: What happens when a Competing style meets an Avoiding style? How do we disagree productively?

120-150 minTeam charter: agreements on communication, conflict, feedback, and meetings based on what we learned

150-180 minAction items: each person commits to one behavior change based on insights

10-25 minTake EQ + Big Five tests

25-45 minReview EQ dimensions: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management. Where are your strengths?

45-60 minMap EQ to Big Five: How does your Neuroticism affect self-management? How does Agreeableness relate to social awareness?

60-75 minPeer feedback: "I see your EQ strength as..." and "One area you could develop..."

75-90 minPersonal EQ development plan: each leader picks 1 EQ dimension to focus on for 90 days

FAQ

How long does a personality workshop take?▼

Basic DISC workshop: 45-60 minutes (test + discussion). Full personality workshop (DISC + Big Five + EQ): 2-3 hours or split across sessions. We recommend starting with DISC only (simplest) and adding other assessments in follow-up sessions.

Do I need a certified facilitator?▼

No. This guide is designed for managers and team leads without certification. The key is creating psychological safety (no judgment, all styles are valid) and following the discussion questions. If you want a professional facilitator, contact peter@jobcannon.io.

What team size works best?▼

Ideal: 4-12 people. Under 4 doesn't generate enough diversity discussion. Over 12 needs breakout groups. For large teams, run separate workshops per group, then a cross-group synthesis session.
