Self-Efficacy (Conscientiousness facet)

A facet measuring belief in your ability to accomplish goals and handle challenges. High scorers are confident in their competence.

Self-efficacy (not to be confused with self-esteem) is belief in your capability to execute behaviors to produce outcomes. Bandura's research shows it predicts performance better than actual ability.

This Conscientiousness facet captures "I can do this" confidence. It's distinct from Openness (intellectual confidence) — it's about competence in execution.

High self-efficacy: sets ambitious goals, persists through obstacles, learns from failure. Low self-efficacy: avoids challenges, gives up easily, attributes failure to inability. Importantly, self-efficacy is malleable — success experiences, mentorship, and skill development all increase it.
