Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Child Focus & Activity Check-In?
A 22-question self-reflection for a parent or caregiver on a child's attention, activity level, and impulse patterns at home and school. This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical diagnosis. If you have concerns about your child, talk to a licensed pediatrician or child psychologist.
Who is supposed to answer these questions, me or my child?
You, the parent or caregiver, answer based on what you've observed in your child. This is not a self-report quiz for children to take about themselves.
Does a high result mean my child has ADHD?
No. Your result reflects how you described your child's recent patterns, not a label or a diagnosis. Only a licensed pediatrician or child psychologist can properly assess ADHD in a child, using a clinical interview, developmental history, and input from teachers.
How long does the check-in take?
About 5 minutes for 22 questions covering inattention, hyperactivity-impulsivity, and everyday impact at home and school. You get an instant summary plus general pointers for finding support.
What should I do if the result comes back moderate or high?
Talking to your child's pediatrician is a reasonable next step. They can refer you to a child psychologist or developmental specialist for a full evaluation. Our adult Focus & Energy Check-In may also be useful if you're wondering about your own patterns.
Is this the same as the Vanderbilt or Conners scale?
No. Those are validated, copyrighted clinical instruments that clinicians administer as part of a full evaluation. This check-in is original JobCannon wording, an informal parent self-reflection, not a scored clinical instrument.
Is the Child Focus & Activity Check-In free and confidential?
Yes. Free, with answers stored only on your device. We do not share any self-reflection data with third parties.
