Artistic (A) is Holland's code for creative, unconventional, expressive people. They value originality, self-expression, and creating beauty or meaning. They prefer open-ended problems without single right answers.
Artistic careers include: designer, artist, writer, musician, architect, creative director, therapist, and actor. Work environment: flexible, expressive, nonconforming, aesthetic appreciation, autonomy in process.
Artistic types think in metaphors, images, and possibilities rather than data. They're motivated by creating something new and meaningful. High Artistic people often struggle with jobs that demand conformity or pure efficiency, they need creative outlets. Combined with Investigative, they create innovative designers. Combined with Social, they become therapists or performing artists. Career satisfaction requires creative challenge and appreciation for their unique perspective.
