Bring the Big Five (OCEAN) to your students through Google Classroom in 10 minutes
Big Five through Google Classroom returns the five normalised OCEAN dimension scores (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism) on a 0-100 scale, framed for classroom self-awareness rather than a screening decision. Once an org admin connects Google Classroom, a counselor picks an existing course from the synced list and assigns the test to that course's whole roster in one action — no re-typing a class list. Advisory and SEL teachers use the conscientiousness slice as a conversation-starter around study habits, not as a placement tool.
Validity
In a school setting, Big Five is a self-awareness and study-habits framing tool, not a predictive-performance instrument the way it is marketed to employers elsewhere on this site. Conscientiousness has the strongest published link to academic outcomes among the five traits (Poropat, 2009 meta-analysis, k=80, corrected ρ ≈ .19-.22 with GPA).
Assign the Big Five (OCEAN) through Google Classroom
From Google Classroom admin to first scored student.
- 1
Connect Google Classroom
Set up the Google Classroom connection at the organisation level — see the Google Classroom integration page for the exact steps for your connector.
- 2
Assign Big Five (OCEAN) to a class or cohort
Once Google Classroom is connected, a counselor assigns Big Five (OCEAN) to a specific class or cohort rather than inviting students one by one.
- 3
Students complete the assessment
Students complete the 10-minute form on any device; a counselor sees completion status per class in real time.
- 4
Review results as a class summary
Individual results and a class-level summary land in the counselor dashboard — useful for a group debrief or one-on-one advising conversation.
Sample score envelope
Generated by the same normalizer that serves your Google Classroom connector, so the field names and types below are the ones you will parse. The student and the answers are a worked example; the numbers are illustrative, not a benchmark.
dimensions[].score is 0–100 within this test’s own scale. It is safe to rank students on one dimension of one test, and it is not a percentile unless metadata.score_metric says so — today only Big Five publishes percentiles, against norms whose sample size and pull date travel in the same envelope. Scores from two different tests are not comparable to each other.

RIASEC (Holland Codes)
career interest profiler
RIASEC's strongest evidence base is exactly this use case — school and career counseling, not hiring. Holland's six-type model predicts satisfaction and person-environment fit for a chosen path (Tracey & Rounds, 1993); a meta-analysis of 27 studies finds person-environment congruence correlates with tenure and satisfaction (Tranberg, Slane & Ekeberg, 1993, r ≈ .15-.20). It was never validated as, and is not used here as, a hiring or admissions screen.

Career Match (Mini RIASEC)
quick career interest screener
Career Match is JobCannon's 12-item forced-choice Mini RIASEC — a fast on-ramp to the same six-type Holland framework, not a shorter substitute for its validity evidence. Use it for a first pass inside a single class period; the full 60-item RIASEC is the instrument to reach for when a counselor needs the finer-grained three-letter code for course or pathway planning.

EQ (Emotional Intelligence)
SEL / emotional intelligence self-assessment
Emotional intelligence in a school context is taught as a skill, not screened as a gate — there is no pass/fail band on this page. Goleman's four-domain framework (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management) gives counselors a shared vocabulary for SEL (social-emotional-learning) conversations; published predictive validity for academic outcomes is modest and secondary to its use as a reflection tool.

Frequently asked
Is Big Five used to place or rank students?+
No. On these pages it is framed as a self-awareness instrument for advisory or SEL conversations, not a placement or ranking tool — there is no pass/fail band.
How long does Big Five take?+
Median completion is 10 minutes on JobCannon's 50-item form (≈12 seconds per item).
Do I need to rebuild my class list to use this?+
No — once Google Classroom is connected at the org level, this test can be assigned directly to an existing Classroom course roster instead of a manually built list.
What does this cost the district?+
Sandbox invitations send no email and count toward no quota. There is no separate per-connector fee — SSO and rostering are a platform capability across every institutional tier. District-wide assessment licensing (priced per enrolled student for larger districts) is quoted separately; talk to us rather than assuming a self-serve tier price covers it.
