What is the HEXACO?
The HEXACO model is a six-factor framework of personality that builds on the Big Five by adding a sixth dimension, Honesty-Humility. Developed from lexical studies across many languages, it captures a trait the Big Five misses: how sincere, fair, modest, and unwilling to exploit others a person is. For anyone interested in integrity, ethics, and the so-called 'dark' side of personality, HEXACO is the more complete map.
The six HEXACO factors are: Honesty-Humility (sincerity, fairness, modesty, low greed), Emotionality (anxiety, sentimentality, need for emotional support), Extraversion (sociability, liveliness, social confidence), Agreeableness (patience, tolerance, forgiveness), Conscientiousness (organization, diligence, prudence), and Openness to Experience (curiosity, creativity, unconventionality). Each is measured on a continuous scale, so you see where you fall on every dimension rather than being sorted into a single box.
