What is the Self-Esteem Test?
Self-esteem is your overall sense of your own worth, how much you fundamentally value and accept yourself, separate from any single success or failure. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), created by sociologist Morris Rosenberg in 1965, is the most widely used measure of this global self-worth in psychology, appearing in thousands of studies across the world. It uses ten short statements, five positively worded and five reverse-scored, so that simple agreement bias is balanced out and the result reflects how you actually relate to yourself.

The Self-Esteem Test reads your answers across all ten items, how satisfied you feel with yourself, whether you see good qualities and capability in yourself, and how loudly the failure, uselessness, and self-criticism stories run. It sums these into a single snapshot and places you in one of four bands, Tender Roots (low), Finding Footing (below the typical range), Steady Ground (healthy), and Solid Self (high), each with its genuine strength and the growth edge that helps most. On the original scale, raw scores run 0 to 30, with roughly 15 to 25 considered the normal range.
This is a self-reflection snapshot, NOT a clinical or diagnostic assessment, and self-esteem is distinct from depression or anxiety. Self-esteem is also one of the most changeable parts of how we relate to ourselves, it shifts with life stage, relationships, stress, and self-talk, so a low result reflects a hard season rather than a fixed flaw. JobCannon's Self-Esteem Test takes about two minutes and ends with a shareable result card. If your self-worth feels persistently low, please reach out to a GP or therapist, this quiz is a starting point, not a substitute for support.
