Built for 250-to-1 counsellor caseloads
Dashboard surfaces who needs your attention this month. Juniors with weak career conviction, seniors with completed assessments but no 1:1, students who self-served. ASCA-friendly aggregate reporting.
JobCannon for School District Counselor Caseload serves counsellors with 250-to-1 or larger student caseloads who cannot meaningfully see every student every quarter. The triage dashboard surfaces three priority lists: top 20 students with weak career conviction (low Career Match alignment with their stated post-grad plan), middle 60 students who completed assessments but never had a 1:1 to talk through results, and the remaining 300 students who self-served and are tracked in aggregate. Counsellors using this report 3-4x increase in meaningful career conversations per quarter without working more hours. ASCA National Model programme reporting supported via annual outcomes report — completion rate, archetype distribution, Career Match alignment to declared post-grad pathway, gap analysis. Grade-level cohort filters: middle school (Multiple Intelligences and Values), early high school (RIASEC and Career Match), late high school (Big Five and pathway alignment). Longitudinal tracking across years surfaces big shifts as conversation prompts, not problems. Default consent posture is participant-controlled — students see what their counsellor sees, can request deletion. Sits underneath Naviance or SchooLinks where district runs both. Free for students; counsellor dashboard runs on Business tier or scoped under district partnership.

You do not see all 380 students every week — that is impossible. The dashboard surfaces a triaged list of who needs your attention this month. Top 20 are juniors with weak career conviction (low Career Match alignment with their stated post-grad plan). Middle 60 are seniors who completed assessments but never had a 1:1 to talk through results. The remaining 300 self-served and are tracked in aggregate. Counsellors using this report a 3-4x increase in meaningful career conversations per quarter without working more hours, because the platform does the triage that used to eat the first 8 hours of every week.
The ASCA National Model expects counsellors to demonstrate programme outcomes, not just activity. JobCannon contributes outcomes data: career-readiness assessment completion rate, archetype distribution, Career Match alignment to declared post-grad pathway, gap analysis between expressed interests and prerequisite course-taking. We provide an annual ASCA-formatted programme report your counsellors can present at their school board. We do not replace the ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors framework or the school counsellor self-evaluation; we feed data into them.
Elementary counsellors typically do not deploy career assessments — career awareness at K-5 is curriculum-led, not assessment-led. The platform serves grades 6-12. Middle school (6-8) runs Multiple Intelligences and Values; the goal is widening the mental list of possible futures and connecting interests to school subjects. Early high school (9-10) adds RIASEC and Career Match for exploration. Late high school (11-12) leans on Big Five, Career Match, and post-grad pathway alignment. A counsellor serving across multiple grade levels sees a single dashboard with grade-level cohort filters.
Plans changing is normal — most students change post-grad direction at least once between sophomore and senior year. The platform tracks longitudinal Career Match across years, so a counsellor can see a student's 9th-grade RIASEC code, 10th-grade Career Match, and 12th-grade declared pathway in one view. Big shifts get flagged not as a problem but as a conversation prompt — "this student moved from a strong Realistic-Investigative profile in 9th to declaring a pre-law track in 12th; worth confirming this is a considered shift, not a peer-pressure default".
Three architectural choices. (1) Default consent posture is participant-controlled — students see exactly what their counsellor sees and can request data deletion. (2) The dashboard surfaces patterns, not individual deep-reads — counsellor sees archetype and Career Match but does not browse raw psychometric answers without explicit pedagogical reason. (3) No automated parent notification of individual results; parents see results only when the student or counsellor chooses to share. Counsellors who deploy with a "this is your tool, your counsellor sees the headline only" framing get higher completion rates than counsellors who deploy with a top-down assigned-task framing.
Yes. JobCannon does not replace Naviance application management or SchooLinks pathway-planning surfaces — we sit underneath as the assessment-and-discovery layer. Many districts run JobCannon for grades 6-10 career exploration alongside Naviance or SchooLinks for grades 11-12 application management. The platforms do not need to integrate technically; they share the student via the SIS, and counsellors learn to use both. If your district wants to consolidate, see /compare/jobcannon-vs-naviance for the structural comparison.
