Built for Registered Apprenticeship sponsors

Career-fit data alongside your aptitude test. Free for applicants. Cuts year-two attrition.

Adds personality, values, and trajectory data on top of your existing aptitude gate. RIASEC, Big Five, Skills Audit, Career Match output supports RTI risk-flagging and RAPIDS-friendly cohort exports.

In Brief

JobCannon for Apprenticeship Programme Applicant Screening serves Registered Apprenticeship sponsors (NABTU-affiliated building trades JATCs, IT-track IRAP and RA, healthcare apprenticeship sponsors) with career-fit and trajectory data layered on top of existing aptitude gate testing (NJATC for IBEW, parallel instruments for other trades). The platform does not replace aptitude testing; it adds personality, values, and interest data that predicts year-two attrition — the cohort-completion signal that hurts sponsor pass-through rates. RAPIDS and DOL Office of Apprenticeship reporting supported via cohort-level CSV exports including RIASEC code, Skills Audit score, Career Match alignment, and completion timestamps; sponsors and state BAT/SAA staff use the file in their RAPIDS submission. Related Technical Instruction risk-flagging via Numerical Reasoning and Critical Thinking scores supports sponsor decisions to flag apprentices for tutoring before RTI starts. Track-specific batteries: building trades lean on Multiple Intelligences and Skills Audit; IT lean on Critical Thinking and Skills Audit; healthcare lean on EQ alongside Skills Audit. EEOC-aware deployment — platform is self-discovery and cohort-fit tool, not pass/fail selection screen. Demographic disaggregation supports adverse-impact monitoring. JATC-aware data sharing model. Applicant access free; sponsor dashboard runs on Business tier or scoped under partnership for state-WDB or international-union master deployments.

What apprenticeship sponsors get

On top of your aptitude gate, not in place of it.

Trajectory data alongside aptitude
Existing aptitude testing remains the gate. JobCannon adds personality, values, and interest data that predicts year-two attrition. Cuts the cohort-completion signal that hurts sponsor pass-through rates.
RTI risk-flagging
Numerical Reasoning and Critical Thinking scores correlate with Related Technical Instruction completion. Sponsors flag at-risk apprentices for tutoring before RTI starts, lifting RTI pass rates.
RAPIDS-friendly exports
Cohort-level CSV with RIASEC, Skills Audit, Career Match, and timestamps suitable for sponsor performance review and BAT/SAA RAPIDS submission. State staff can have read-only dashboard access scoped to their portfolio.
Track-specific batteries
Building trades: Multiple Intelligences and Skills Audit. IT track: Critical Thinking and Skills Audit. Healthcare: EQ alongside Skills Audit. Defaults configured per occupational track without sponsor lift.

Track-aware apprenticeship battery

Defaults per occupational track, configurable at sponsor level.

Building trades
Electrical, plumbing, ironwork

FAQ

How does this work alongside our existing aptitude testing?

Many Registered Apprenticeship Programmes (RAPs), particularly building-trades sponsors affiliated with NABTU, run an aptitude test (NJATC for IBEW, similar instruments for plumbers, sheet-metal workers, ironworkers) plus a structured interview. JobCannon does not replace the aptitude test — that is the gate. JobCannon adds career-fit and trajectory data: does this applicant's personality, values, and interests fit a 4-5-year apprenticeship grind, or are they testing into a programme they will quit at month 18? The platform reduces the year-two attrition that hurts sponsor pass-through rates.

How does this fit RAPIDS and DOL Office of Apprenticeship reporting?

RAPIDS (Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Data System) is the DOL data system. JobCannon does not submit to RAPIDS on your behalf; we provide applicant and apprentice-level cohort data the sponsor or BAT (Bureau of Apprenticeship Training) state office uses in their RAPIDS submission. Cohort completion exports include RIASEC code, Skills Audit score, Career Match alignment, and timestamps suitable for sponsor performance reviews. State BAT and SAA (State Apprenticeship Agency) staff can be given read-only dashboard access scoped to their oversight portfolio.

Does this support Related Technical Instruction reporting?

Indirectly. RTI is the classroom component of an apprenticeship — usually 144 hours minimum per year delivered through community college, JATC training centre, or sponsor-run instruction. The platform does not deliver RTI; we provide the career-fit baseline that informs which apprentices need additional academic support to succeed in RTI. Numerical Reasoning and Critical Thinking scores correlate with RTI completion in trades programmes; sponsors using the data flag at-risk apprentices for tutoring before RTI starts.

How does this work for IT-track and non-construction RAPs?

IT apprenticeships under DOL Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP) framework or under Registered Apprenticeship in IT (cybersecurity, software development, data centre, network operations) use a different battery: Skills Audit and Critical Thinking weight more heavily, RIASEC leans Investigative-Conventional, the Big Five conscientiousness signal predicts course-completion. Healthcare apprenticeships (medical assistant, pharmacy tech, surgical tech) lean on EQ alongside Skills Audit. The platform configures battery defaults per occupational track without sponsor lift.

Are there equity-and-diversity considerations for assessment use in apprenticeship?

Yes, and they matter. EEOC Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures (29 CFR Part 1607) apply to assessment used in employment selection — apprenticeship admission counts. JobCannon is not used as a selection screen; it is used as a self-discovery and post-admission cohort-fit tool. We explicitly do not produce a pass/fail score for apprenticeship admission. The platform supports demographic disaggregation so sponsors can monitor whether assessment outcomes correlate with race, gender, or other protected categories — early-warning signal for adverse-impact patterns the sponsor needs to address.

How do union-affiliated programmes handle the data-sharing question?

Union-affiliated apprenticeship programmes (IBEW, UA, UBC, IUPAT, ironworkers, sheet metal workers) typically run JATCs or similar joint labour-management training committees. The committee owns the apprentice data; sponsors share data with the international union and the contracting employer per existing collective bargaining agreements. JobCannon is a tool of the JATC; we sign DPAs with the JATC, not with the international or with individual contractors. Apprentice individual data shares require apprentice consent under the platform's default participant-controlled consent posture.
