British Columbia CLE/CLC mandate
Under the Graduation Program Order and BC Career Education curriculum, students must complete two mandatory 4-credit career courses (Career-Life Education in Grade 10 and Career-Life Connections in Grade 12), including a Capstone project and 30+ hours of experiential learning.
British Columbia's approach to career education is notably different from other jurisdictions: rather than mandate a single maintained 'plan' document, BC integrates career pathway development into two mandatory graduation courses. Grade 10 students take Career-Life Education (4 credits), and Grade 12 students take Career-Life Connections (4 credits). Both courses are built around hands-on career exploration, work experience, and evidence-based decision-making. The Grade 12 course culminates in a Capstone project—a portfolio-based demonstration of learning that must be presented to an audience. Combined with a minimum 30 hours of substantive volunteer or work experience, these requirements ensure every BC graduate has tested themselves against real workplace challenges and articulated a vision for their next steps.
Because the career curriculum is embedded in graduation courses rather than a separate planning system, BC does not mandate a single province-wide platform. Individual school boards select their own tools (myBlueprint is widely used, but boards retain autonomy). The focus is on the courses themselves and the experiential requirements, not the platform. This model values authentic workplace learning over paperwork.

This page is one of 38 verified career-plan mandate pages JobCannon tracks, each citing a primary statute or regulation — for the British Columbia CLE/CLC mandate that source is Career Education – Career-Life Connections, BC Curriculum. Scale is $199/mo and covers 200 people per billing period — one person, however many assessments they take, and a class-code arrival counts the same as an emailed invite. Growth is $999/mo for 1,000. Above that, or where enrolment should not be metered at all, it is an Enterprise conversation rather than a larger self-serve plan. A district-sized enrolment runs out of the monthly tiers quickly — the Education Licence below prices your whole enrolment per student for the year, assessments uncapped, and adds the full career and skills corpus.

One rate per enrolled student for the academic year, sized for British Columbia district or school-level CLE/CLC rollouts. Assessments uncapped, career and skills corpus included — multiply your own enrolment by the band and you have the most this can cost before you talk to us.
$1.25 down to $0.80 per student, per year — assessments uncapped
That multiplication is a ceiling, not a bill. If our self-serve plans would cover the same number of students for less, you are quoted the lower figure — we do not sell an institution its own students back at a higher price than anyone can buy them for on the pricing page.
A large school, multi-school district or trust
A university, college or college group
A statewide or national programme
£350 per school, per year — a flat whole-school licence rather than a per-student rate, because that is the unit UK schools budget in. Same uncapped assessments and same corpus. Excludes VAT.
The ladder starts at 1,301 students. Below that a self-serve plan already covers your whole roll for less than a licence would, so that is what we will point you at — and UK schools have the flat whole-school licence above at any size. Bands are by enrolment, and the rate applies to your whole roll rather than to a seat count you have to predict. Invoiced annually against a purchase order; no per-assessment charge and nothing to top up mid-year. Assessing an institution's enrolled students is covered by the Education Licence, not by a hiring plan. What is in the corpus.
Tell us how many students you expect to assess in a term and what your review process asks for. If something on your requirements list is not in the product, we will say so in the reply rather than in the pilot.
BC embeds career education into mandatory graduation courses (Grade 10 and 12) rather than as a separate planning document. The province prioritizes experiential learning—real work/volunteer hours and a public Capstone project—over paperwork. This approach assumes that students demonstrate career readiness through action, not documentation alone.
The Capstone is a Grade 12 student-designed project that demonstrates learning related to their post-secondary goals and career interests. It could be a portfolio of work samples, a research project, a creative portfolio, or a community service reflection—whatever authentically showcases the student's readiness. It must be completed and presented to an audience (not just submitted to the teacher).
Both count. The requirement is 30+ hours of 'substantive' experiential learning, which can be paid employment, volunteer work, co-op placement, or a structured community service project. The key is that it's real-world engagement, not classroom simulation.
No. BC does not mandate a single platform. Some boards license myBlueprint to manage course resources and Capstone portfolios; others use their LMS, paper systems, or custom tools. The province mandates the curriculum content and experience hours, not the platform.
Career interest and skills assessments (RIASEC, Multiple Intelligences, Skills Audit) can be administered during Grade 10 or 12 career courses to help students clarify their pathway before selecting their Capstone focus and workplace learning placement. The assessment results become evidence within the student's portfolio.
British Columbia's career education mandate does not extend to grades 7–9; the legal requirement is limited to two mandatory courses in grades 10 and 12. It also does not legally require a specific platform or digital tool—the province mandates course completion and experiential hours, not software.
