Management without the guesswork
DISC, Big Five, EQ, Conflict Styles. Turn awkward check-ins into real conversations. Map team DNA. Spot conflicts before they explode. From $0 (5 invites) to $79/mo (full team dashboard).
JobCannon is a 50+ assessment toolkit for managers and team leads running 3-30 person teams. Core tests: DISC (5 min, workplace communication styles), Big Five (15 min, OCEAN trait profile), Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Conflict Styles (Thomas-Kilmann), Values Assessment, Leadership Style, and Burnout Risk. Used for 1:1 prep, team onboarding, conflict resolution, team-composition mapping, and retention conversations. Pricing starts at $0 (5 invites, good for 3-person teams testing the waters) and scales to $79/mo (100 invites + Team DNA dashboard + compatibility matrix + manager briefings). Alternatives like Culture Amp ($6-12/employee/month, $2-6k/year for a 15-person team) and Gallup Access ($20-60 per person + certification) are built for HR departments, not managers. Our tests are self-report, research-validated, and take 5-15 minutes.
Each takes ≤30 minutes to set up. Most compound over weeks.

One test, one ritual. Send DISC (5 min) to your direct reports. Each person reads their own result, then you review it together in the next 1:1. That is it. You will learn more about how to work with each person in 30 minutes than you did in the last 3 months of "how are you?" 1:1s. Graduate to Big Five + Conflict Styles once DISC feels natural.
Two reasons. (1) People change — especially through stressful periods, new roles, parenthood, or major life events. Big Five Conscientiousness shifts measurably across decades. (2) Old results sit in a dusty PDF nobody rereads. Retaking every 12-18 months turns the result into a living tool, not a one-time workshop artifact. If the team groans at "another test", just do DISC (5 min) — lowest friction, most useful.
Three rules: (1) Everyone's results are shared openly, or nobody's are. The asymmetric "I can see yours, you can't see mine" pattern kills trust. (2) Never bring up a test result in a performance conversation as evidence — that is what feedback and examples are for. (3) Use it to adapt your approach ("I know you score high on Conscientiousness — want me to give you the deadline now or after the scoping doc?"), not to label or explain away behaviour.
Even more valuable. Without hallway-context, you lose 80% of the soft signal you'd naturally pick up in-person. DISC + Communication Styles gives a remote manager a structured substitute: written preference, meeting cadence, async tolerance, feedback style. We have Remote Work Readiness and Digital Collaboration assessments specifically for distributed teams.
No. It makes manager training stick. Most management training is generic frameworks ("active listening!") without per-person application. Personality profiles let a manager say "OK, Sarah scores low on Extraversion and high on Conscientiousness, so for her I should...", which is far more actionable than "be a good listener in general". Pair our tests with training from First Round, Manager Tools, or Lattice — they amplify each other.
Free tier (5 invites) is fine if you have 3 reports and never want to retake. Team tier ($79/mo, 100 invites/mo) gets you: (a) Team DNA dashboard — aggregated view of team traits, (b) compatibility matrix — who to pair on projects, who to keep apart, (c) conflict-pattern detection, (d) manager prep briefings — a 1-page doc per direct report you can read before each 1:1. For a manager of 5+ people, that is worth $79/mo.
