What is the Egogram?

The Egogram, developed by psychologist John Dusay (1972) as a visual extension of Transactional Analysis (TA), maps how much energy you invest in five ego states: Critical Parent (CP), Nurturing Parent (NP), Adult (A), Free Child (FC), and Adapted Child (AC). The pattern across all five — not just the highest score — reveals your characteristic interaction style.

  • An egogram is a bar chart showing your relative energy investment across the five Transactional Analysis ego states: CP (Critical Parent), NP (Nurturing Parent), A (Adult), FC (Free Child), and AC (Adapted Child). Developed by John Dusay in 1972, it visualises how you typically show up in interactions.
